SIMON FARMAKAS (Director for home scene)
Graduated in June 1994 from the University of Wolverhampton in the UK with a Bachelor's degree in Media Communications. In 1995 Simon was the Assistant to the Director of Award winning Documentary "My Cyprus" of US director Varnava Zagaris.
After a short spell with AVS Cyprus (Audio Visual Services) he worked at Fotocine Studios, a production company based in Cyprus and was also credited as Assistant Director or Production Manager in the feature films "Roads and Oranges", "Bar", "Nous", "Dinner with my sisters" and "Chinatown: The three Shelters".
Simon also worked as P.M. or 1st A.D. in many local and international short films, music clips and TV commercials and in 2007 was Production Manager of 3 R.S.A. (Ridley Scott and Associates) TV commercials shot on the island.
2006 saw him produce and direct the short film "Airport for Sale" which was screened in film festivals in Rome, Oberhausen, Seoul, Morocco, Los Angeles and Cyprus. In 2009 he directed his second short film "Absent".
A third short film "Stahia/Rye" won best film and best cinematography awards at ISFFC (International Short FIlm Festival of Cyprus).
Simon is currently developing a feature film with the participation of the Film Council Committee of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Principal photography of the film is scheduled for 2013.
He is also a member of the Board of the Film and Television Directors Association of Cyprus.
